Smoke Detective will be participating in the two-day Pittsburgh Business Pitch, a Pittsburgh Business Show event, on April 25^th and 26^th at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will give six new Pittsburgh start-up business concepts the chance to present their business ideas to attendees and sponsors to win start-up services that can help get their business off the ground.

Smoke Detective, founded by Stephen Davis, has developed a patent-pending program that can turn any camera-enabled smart device into a smoke detector without any additional hardware or calibration needed. The Smoke Detective’s software can enable billions of smart devices to become working smoke detectors Devices such as baby monitors, security cameras, and even smartphones into a smoke detector. With the press of a button, this user-friendly application will begin monitoring, sounding an alarm and send a mobile notification when visible smoke is detected.

At the Show, each of the six finalists will be provided with space for both days of the Show, where they will give a presentation on their business idea to attendees and the sponsors. Attendees and sponsors will vote for their favorite business idea and the business with the most votes wins the sponsor services and support. Voting will take place starting on Friday, April 20th for Pittsburgh’s favorite business idea using a TEXT to vote system that is sponsored by FYRE, INC a Pittsburgh based business that helps businesses with their mobile marketing needs. The winner will also be presented with the Pittsburgh Business Pitch award on the main stage.

By participating in this two-day event, Smoke Detective will have the opportunity to win sponsored services and support to help them launch their brand and business but will also have the chance to network with industry leaders and learn from over 30 business workshops designed to help businesses improve and succeed.
