Linda Jo Thornberg President of the Pittsburgh Business Show Appointed to Strategic Communications Alumni Advisory Board at Edinboro University of PA

Linda Jo Thornberg, President of the Pittsburgh Business Show and Vice President of Corporate Communications and PR for Higher Images, was appointed to the Strategic Communications Alumni Advisory Board at Edinboro University of PA.

The advisory board will serve as a resource for the Department of Communication, Journalism, & Media at the university. On September 27th, 2018 Linda Jo will take part in an all-day planning meeting with faculty and will give a Strategic Communication presentation in Compton Hall on the Edinboro campus.

“I am excited to be a part of something that I feel so passionate about. The future of Strategic Communications in business is such an important part of marketing and advertising in today’s world. Being able to work with the professors, faculty, and students to help create this new program while working directly in the field will be beneficial to both the students and me by keeping up on the newest techniques and current trends in the digital marketplace,” Linda Jo said.

During her time as a student at Edinboro, Linda Jo was very involved in activities and organizations on campus. She served as President of the Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority, the Student Government Association and served on the Panhellenic Council, among other activities.

The education and mentorship Linda Jo received from Edinboro University has provided her with the skills to become a successful leader in the business community and at Higher Images where she uses her expertise in strategic communications to help clients build their brand and increase their reputation through print, radio, TV, digital marketing, PR, and social media.

Linda Jo continues to dedicate her time to the university by also serving as a mentor for women students through the ATHENA Connections College Leadership Program.

Dr. Timothy Thompson, Chair of the Communication, Journalism & Media Department, said this board of alumni will serve to help them find ways to improve their curriculum and keep it current with the needs of the real world. He said the members of this board can help to incorporate out of classroom events, service learning, and other high impact practices into their curriculum. Dr. Thompson said this board is made up of successful alumni, like Linda Jo, who are experts in their field.

“We’re trying to enhance the students’ experience. That’s really one of our primary goals across the university,” Dr. Thompson said. He said this board is another way they can highlight their successful graduates. Dr. Thompson noted Linda Jo’s success with the Pittsburgh Business Show and Higher Images is one of the most significant factors that got her appointed to the board and that her work is something that the students are very excited about.

Edinboro continues to support Linda Jo in her efforts to connect Pittsburgh businesses by participating in her event every year. They recently hosted an Alumni event at the show and launched a new MBA program at the event as well. The third annual Pittsburgh Business Show will be held on May 14-15, 2019 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Visit www.PittsburghBusinessShow.com for more information.
