George Robinson II is Manager of Supplier Diversity for The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
He joined UPMC in April 2018 to enhance strategic planning and execution in the UPMC Supplier Diversity Program. Robinson brings to this position over 20 years of experience in Business and Engineering Administration, Government Management and Diverse Business Development.

Mr. Robinson’s business and social acumen enhances his approach to partnering with executives, key stakeholders, and community leaders to accomplish major shifts in organizational and business productivity. Prior to joining UPMC, he was responsible for the creation of Development (Real Estate) Services Group as Manager of Development Services for The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA). In addition, he was asked to positively impact Diverse Business Affairs, strategic direction and marketing of all aspects of business related opportunities to Minority, Women-owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MWDBEs) for PWSA. Prior to this opportunity Robinson provided engineering Project Management services to Black & Veatch; a global Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) firm of 10,000 associates headquartered in Overland Park (Kansas City), Kansas. Before relocating to Pittsburgh in 2013, Robinson held various administrative positions in local government; last serving as Deputy Director of Public Utilities for the City of Toledo, Ohio and managing the city’s $521 million Federal Consent Order engineering and construction program (The Toledo Waterways Initiative).

His dedication to the community and business industry has lead him to serve on the boards of the Engineering Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP), the Southwestern Pennsylvania Engineers Outreach (SPEO), Junior Achievement Young Professionals, and serve as professional advisor to the Robert Morris University Undergraduate Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. Robinson was past board member of the Pennsylvania Economy League of Pittsburgh; an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development (ACCD). He continues to provide advice and counseling to the ACCD Supplier Diversity working group.

George completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, a Master of Business Administration with specialization in Operations Management, Law and Ph.D. studies in Higher Education Leadership; all at the University of Toledo (Ohio). He is the father and lead example of two sons (George III and Gabriel) and husband of Vandra Robinson.
