The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce works every day to serve our members and the community at large. PMAHCC
is the principal regional advocate for the Hispanic business community’s civic and economic interests. It is our mission is to develop, promote and advocate on behalf of Hispanic businesses & professionals in the Pittsburgh region, while encouraging the advancement and economic growth of Pittsburgh’s Hispanic community.
Since 2011 our PMAHCC Foundation has awarded over $190,000 in scholarships to outstanding Latinx students in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. It is through our scholarship program that we are able to connect exceptional Latinx students with companies in our region to promote diversity and retain top talent in the Pittsburgh area.
The Pittsburgh Chamber holds monthly events based on networking, culture, education, promoting diversity and inclusion, entertainment, promoting partnership, empowering entrepreneurs, community service/engagement and events to promote our members. These include:
Networking events at our small business locations (promoting the business)
Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies
Social Events such as “Dia De Los Muertos” fiesta
Charity Fundraisers (Celebrity Basketball Game & Gala)
Volunteering at other local Latinx nonprofits
Hispanic Art Show
Latinx Theater Productions
Training courses (in Spanish) in partnership with the Duquesne Small Business Development Center
Pittsburgh Business Show Admission, Supplier Diversity Workshop and Discounts
Networking “Mega-Mixers” with other local chambers and business-oriented groups
Our Latino Business Initiative is a program that our organization offers to our members as well as members of another local group, the Latin American Cultural Union. This program connects our Small Business members to receive special discounts and deals that promote these businesses as well as promote customer loyalty. PMAHCC
Members who join at the Small Business level are automatically requested to specify a special promotion, discount or offering through this program.
Other tools to that the chamber utilizes regularly to prom
ote our members and
regional partners include our newsletter, blog and social media outreach. The PMAHCC newsletter reaches approximately 4,000 people with ties to the Latinx community in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Facebook marketing is the chamber’s primary means of social media engagement. The content of the PMAHCC page reaches approximately 20,000 people monthly on average. Additionally, new “Live Lunch” sessions are growing in popularity. A live lunch session is a partnering of two chamber members (most commonly, a business or professional and a restaurant) discussing their history, upcoming projects, food, culture, their business and more over a Facebook Live feed. This entertains and educates the community on local businesses, culture and what the chamber has to offer. Members have also been included in “Pittsburgh: Our City”, a show about the positive and inspirational stories of Pittsburgh.
In January, 2019, our organization held the first in a series of meetings titled, “Pittsburgh Latinx Leaders Gathering”. The purpose of this meeting was to create, long overdue, partnerships between all of the Hispanic organizations in our city, to determine the strengths, needs and how our groups can form more symbiotic relationships to benefit the Latinx community, as a whole. A survey was conducted and a plan to strengthen these relationships has been set in to motion.
Through a partnership with the Pittsburgh Business Show, PMAHCC will be
presenting a supplier diversity certification including a panel session and workshops on the role of diversity and inclusion in business and supplier diversity. It is through this partnership that we are able to
to offer discounted tickets and booth prices to our members.
