The Pittsburgh Business Show, the largest business event and trade show in the region, is pleased to be bringing back the Pittsburgh Business Pitch for the second year in a row. This program serves to help provide a life-changing opportunity to start-up business owners within the Pittsburgh area.
Serving as one of the area’s first startup business pitch programs, the Pittsburgh Business Pitch provides entrepreneurs who have start-up business concepts with support and services from event sponsors. These services are valued at tens of thousands of dollars and can help these start-up business owners bring their concepts to life.
Last year, Gypsy Artistry, owned by Tanya Bashor, won the Pittsburgh Business Pitch, receiving not only the sponsor- provided services, but also gaining the support, praise, and information to help her further her business. Founded in 2018, Gypsy Artistry is a traveling art studio that provides customers with a stress-free and hassle-free crafting experience by proving all the materials and the instructions.
Gypsy Artistry holds workshops all over the Pittsburgh area, partners with a variety of local venues such as wineries, coffee shops, and bars and also offer customized projects for private parties and fundraisers. From season crafts and paper crafts to missed media art and floral crafts, Gypsy Artistry provides a range of popular workshops to choose from.
To nominate your amazing business idea, you must live within the 10- county western Pennsylvania region. You can nominate yourself or other entrepreneurs by filling out a form. For those who nominate themselves or someone they know, they will be asked to pitch their concept by submitting a business name, business concept, contact information, and their vision.
After nominations are received, 12 finalists will be chosen. On May 14 and 15 at the Pittsburgh Business Show, these 12 business concept finalists will be provided with a booth on the main floor where they will have the opportunity to present their business idea to attendees, exhibitors, and Pitch sponsors.
Finalists are encouraged to share their business concepts on social media to gain more votes from the community, business executives, creatives, investors, friends, and other entrepreneurs. All Show attendees will have the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite business concept using text-to-vote technology provided by Fyre, a Pittsburgh-based business who supported the Show last year.
The start-up concept who receives the most total votes will be presented with the Pittsburgh Business Pitch award on the Pittsburgh Business Show’s main stage on May 15th. The winning entrepreneur will be provided with support and services to help them launch their brand and business.
“We are extremely excited to be able to offer this unique opportunity to a Pittsburgh entrepreneur again and to be able to help their business concept and dream come true. Being able to see our last year winner, Tanya Bashor of Gypsy Artistry, start as an idea and to be a part of her journey to take her business to a full-time career with the support of our generous exhibitors to help her get off of the ground is what the Pittsburgh Business Show is all about. Pittsburgh Businesses supporting Pittsburgh Business is our vision and a testament to how if we all work together we can continue to grow this amazing region,” said Linda Jo Thornberg, President of the Pittsburgh Business Show.
Nominations are currently being accepted through April 19th. Finalists will be contacted the week of April 26th.
The Pittsburgh Business Show is on May 14 and May 15, 2019, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Visit www.PittsburghBusinessShow.com to purchase your ticket or become an exhibitor today!
