PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Business Show is pleased to announce that the Small Business Administration (SBA) will be hosting Small Business Workshops May 14 & 15 at the Show.
The SBA is an independent agency of the federal government that provides resources to Americans to help them start, build, and grow their businesses. Small business owners will have the opportunity to learn about topics such as lending programs, marketing strategies, and federal contracting. Workshops to be presented by expert SBA specialists include:
10:30 am – Lynn Vozniak, Lender Relations Specialist – Lending Programs – If you need access to capital to help you achieve your business goals, the SBA offers a variety of funding programs for all kinds of small business ventures. This is a general discussion of SBA lending programs available for small business entrepreneurs. What kind of funding is right for you? Do you have a business plan? Which documents do I need to take when visiting a lender? All these questions will be answered at this session.
2:00 pm – Dave Pinkosky, Business Opportunity/Economic Development Specialist – Basics of Federal Contracting –This session will provide a general overview of what it takes for small businesses to enter and succeed in the federal marketplace. Attendees will leave with the understanding of how to become a government vendor and have the tools necessary to determine if federal contracting is right for them.
2:30 pm – Janet Heyl, Public Affairs Specialist – Marketing Tips – Inexpensive marketing tools to promote your business; networking tips; Twitter/Facebook; public speaking and news releases.
11:00 – 11:30 am – Dave Pinkosky, Business Opportunity/Economic Development Specialist – Federal Certifications – This session will discuss the federal government’s socioeconomic programs and the benefits they provide to eligible small businesses when trying to obtain federal contracts. Certifications that will be covered are the SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business Development Program, Historically Underutilized Business Zone Program (HUBZone), Women-Owned Small Business Program (WOSB), and the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Program (SDVOSB).
12:30 – 1 pm – Regina Abel, Deputy District Director – SBA Programs and Services – SBA is everywhere to help your business through all stages of the business cycle. You will be surprised to learn all the ways this agency can help. Whether you are thinking of starting a business, need an advocate, looking to expand your business into new markets or unfortunately encountered a natural disaster in your area. The U.S. Small Business Administration is your premier business resource. Come and discuss with Regina how the SBA can assist your business start, grow, expand and recover.
1:30 – 2 pm – Lynn Vozniak, Lender Relations Specialist – SBA Lender Match Program – Lender Match helps you find capital. Having difficulty finding funds for your small business? Lender Match connects small business owners and entrepreneurs with U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) lenders. The online tool matches you with potential lenders by your industry type, age of business, location and financial need.
Gain valuable business information and learn new tips and tricks on how you can start, grow, and build your business with the help of the SBA. In addition to the SBA workshops, you can also take advantage of speed networking, attend presentations from over 30 expert speakers, and attend the 2nd Annual Business Choice awards at the Show where you can meet and mingle with other business owners.
