Vernard Alexander

Vernard Alexander is an inspiring leader in the areas of Business, Education and Workforce Development. He has a Bachelor’s in Secondary/Social Studies Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction (Adult Education) from Point Park University.

 

Passionate about helping people realize the dream of “Entrepreneurship”, in 2006, Mr. Alexander created the Minority Networking Exchange. The Minority Networking Exchange provides opportunities for networking, education and collaboration.  Vernard hosts a variety of business and social networking events.

Vernard recently launched CKV Suites. CKV Suites is a multi-purpose space that is a combination Co-working and Event Space.

 

Vernard is a Trustee for the Kiva International crowdfunding platform. He has endorsed the most small business loans in PA. Vernard has raised the 8th most money of any Kiva Trustee internationally (over $170,000).

 

Vernard has expanded his brand by helping businesses, non-profits and politicians expand their reach using social media. By tapping into a network of over 22,000 social media followers, Vernard helped to create a massive on-line presence, managing the campaign’s messages and platform. Vernard created and managed social media for State Representative Edward Gainey. Vernard also worked on the Mayor Bill Peduto and Councilwoman Deborah Gross campaign.  He also assisted Turahn Jenkins for Allegheny County District Attorney as Social Media Strategist.

Vernard hosted a “Birthday Fundraiser” on Facebook and raised over $14,500 for the Hope For Tomorrow organization (Youth Entrepreneurship). Vernard hosted other fundraisers (Facebook and Happy Hour) that raised additional $15,000 for businesses and organizations.

 

Vernard has been recognized for his accomplishments. First, as a 2010 recipient of Public Allies 1st Annual “Rise Award” for a Young Leader; next, being featured numerous times in the New Pittsburgh Courier’s Business Section, then being awarded as one of their 2011 recipients as a “Fab 40 under 40”. Vernard was awarded the National Association of Black MBA’s –Pittsburgh Chapter 2013 “Lifestyle Award” for his work in the community. In 2014 Vision Towards Peace Counseling Services, LLC Roadrunners Award for 2014 at the 1st Annual Passion Hits the Road Awards.  Vernard Alexander has been recognized as a BMe Leader Pittsburgh. Vernard was recognized as one of the New Pittsburgh Courier 2017 50 Men of Excellence. He is also the 2018 recipient of the Hope for Tomorrow “Spirit of Hope” award.

Vernard is also a Cub Scout Leader Pack 90 and on the Troop Committee of Troop 90 Boy Scouts of America. He is also Past President and Ex-Officio Officer of The Homewood Brushton Business Owner Association.
